Dug in the basement. Found my old range box! Full of Estes Engines!!! Has my old self made launcher and a 6 v blockbattery. Hooked it up and the light came on!!! Also found those micro toothless alligator clips that are impossible to find over here in Germany. Now to find a place I can fly them...

Oh I better join something and get some insurance. I talked to a local RC airplane club and they were interested in seeing what rockets were about. One member said he had 3 and never thought about asking to see if he could fly them there. Of course I have to be insured by someone to fly on their field, and they started discussing if it was 1) easier for me to just be a member and be insured by them, 2) be in a rocket club with insurance and then it would have to be run though their bureaucracy to be approved, 3) be allowed to fly anything beyond a MicroMaxx rocket as they do not fly above 150 meters.
I am interested in going to rocket events, I have about a dozen low powered ones and and have been building and flying them for 40 years, I just want to find a farmer that will agree to let me launch locally. Ich greife nach den Sternen! |

The insurance offered by (most? all?) rocketry clubs in Germany will cover both model rockets and model airplanes up to the legal limit of 25 kg MTOW, and you'll get a certificate from the insurance that you can show to your club.
And of course you can stay well below 150 m even on a D motor, if you want ;-) Oliver |

150 with D? No problemo. Just crank it down to 90 degrees... I am playing with Open Rocket, still trying to get the hang. My Yankee with a Klima D is projected to go Mach .64 and an altitude of 600+ meters...
